കെ. രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ ലഘു ജീവ ചരിത്രം

ദേശീയപാത 47 ന്റെ ഇരുവശങ്ങളിലും വർഷത്തിന്റെ ഭൂരിഭാഗം സമയവും വെള്ളം കെട്ടിക്കിടക്കുന്ന പാട ശേഖരം അവയിൽ പകൽ മുഴുവൻ വിരിഞ്ഞു നില്ക്കുന്ന ആയിരക്കണക്കിന്‌ ആമ്പൽ പൂക്കൾ. നയാനന്ദകരമായ ആ കാഴ്ച! അതിന്റെ ഭംഗി! അതൊന്നും പറഞ്ഞറിയിക്കാൻ പറ്റില്ല. കാണുക തന്നെ വേണം, ആ അനുഭൂതി ആസ്വദിക്കുവാൻ. ഈ ആമ്പൽ പൂക്കളാണ്‌ ആമ്പല്ലൂരിന്റെ പേരിന്‌ അടിസ്ഥാനം എന്നാണ്‌ സ്ഥലനാമങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ച് പഠിക്കുന്നവരുടെ അഭിപ്രായം. ആമ്പൽ പൂക്കളുടെ ഗ്രാമം (ആമ്പൽ + ഊര്‌ = ആമ്പല്ലൂർ) എന്നതിൽ നിന്നും ആമ്പല്ലൂർ എന്ന പേരുണ്ടായത്രെ.

          കത്തബ്മീനാറിനെ ഓർമ്മിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ആകാശത്തേക്ക് തുളച്ചു കയറി നില്കുന്ന പുകക്കുഴലുകൾ .( ഓടു നിർമ്മാണ കമ്പനികളുടെ ചൂളയുടെ പുകക്കുഴലാണ്‌ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചത്)- അവയും ആയിരക്കണക്കിനുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ആമ്പല്ലൂരിന്റെ മുഖ മുദ്രകളായിരുന്ന ആമ്പൽ പൂക്കളൊ പുകക്കുഴലുകളൊ ഇന്നില്ല. അവയെല്ലാം പഴയ ഓർമ്മകൾ മാത്രം. തൊഴിലാളി സമരങ്ങളുടെ ഈറ്റില്ലം. കേരളത്തിലെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേതാക്കളുടെയും പരിശീലന കളരിയായിരുന്ന ആമ്പല്ലൂർ എന്ന ഗ്രാമം. അതിനും അതിന്റേതായ ഒരു ചരിത്രമുണ്ട്. അവയിലേക്ക് നമുക്ക് പിന്നീട് ഒന്നെത്തിനോക്കാം.

 

          കേരളത്തിലെ സാംസ്കാരിക തലസ്ഥാനമായ തൃശ്ശൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ മുകുന്ദപുരം താലൂക്കിലെ ഒരു ഗ്രാമമാണ്‌ ആമ്പല്ലൂർ. ഇന്ന് ഈ പ്രദേശം അളഗപ്പനഗർ ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.. ഒരു ‘ഗ്രേഡ് എ“ പഞ്ചായത്ത് ആയ അളഗപ്പനഗറിന്റെ ഇന്നത്തെ സാരഥി ശ്രീമതി കെ. രാജേശ്വരിയാണ്‌. 2000 മുതൽ അളഗപ്പനഗർ ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്ത് അംഗവും 2012 മുതൽ ഗ്രാപഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റുമായി തുടരുകയാണ്‌ ശ്രീമതി കെ. രജേശ്വരി.

കെ. രാജേശ്വരി 

          നേഴ്സറി അദ്ധ്യാപിക, പാരലൽ കോളേജ് അദ്ധ്യാപിക, പലചരക്കു കടയുടമ, രാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രവർത്തക, സാധുജന സേവിക, ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്ത് അംഗം, ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റ് എന്നിങ്ങനെ ബഹുമുഖ പ്രതിഭയായ കുറുവീട്ടിൽ രാജേശ്വരി എന്ന കെ. രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ സേവന സമ്പന്നമായ പൊതുജീവിതത്തെ നമുക്കൊന്നു അവലോകനം ചെയ്യാം.

ജനനം
          കുറുവീട്ടിൽ കൃഷ്ണൻ നായർ - പറമ്പത്ത് ലീല അമ്മ ദമ്പതികളുടെ ആറു മക്കളിൽ അഞ്ചാമതായി രാജേശ്വരി ജനിച്ചത് 1966 മെയ് മാസം 25ന്‌ ആണ്‌. അളഗപ്പനഗറിന്റെ ‘കാർത്തിക’വിളക്കയിമാറിയ രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ മുതിർന്ന സഹോദരങ്ങളാണ്‌ ശിവശങ്കരൻ, സീത, ശ്രീരഞ്ജിനി, വിജയലക്ഷ്മി എന്നിവർ. രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട അനുജനാണ്‌ ഗോപാലകൃഷ്ണൻ. 

ബാല്യം
          കുറുവീട്ടിൽ കൃഷ്ണൻ നായർ മുപ്ലിയം പറമ്പത്ത് വീട്ടിൽ ലീല അമ്മയെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ച് ആമ്പല്ലുരിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നതിനു ശേഷം അവരുടെ ജീവിതം പൂർണ്ണമായും ആമ്പല്ലൂരിൽ തന്നെ ആയിരുന്നു എന്നു പറയാം. അമ്മ വീട്ടിൽ പോയി താമസിക്കുക എന്നത് വളരെ വിരളമായ കാര്യമായിരുന്നു. അതിനാൽ രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ ശേഷം അവരുടെ ജീവിതം പൂർണ്ണമായും ആമ്പല്ലൂരിൽ തന്നെ ആയിരുന്നു എന്നു പറയാം. അമ്മ വീട്ടിൽ പോയി താമസിക്കുക എന്നത് വളരെ വിരളമായ കാര്യമായിരുന്നു. അതിനാൽ രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ ബാല്യ കാല ജീവിതം ആമ്പല്ലൂരിൽ അച്ഛന്റെ വീടായ കുറുവീട്ടിൽ തന്നെയാണ്‌ അരങ്ങേറിയത്. ഒരു ജ്യേഷ്ഠൻ, മൂന്നു ചേച്ചിമാർ, ഒരു അനുജൻ; അവരുമായി ഇണങ്ങിയും, പിണങ്ങിയും കളിച്ചും കഥ പറഞ്ഞും രാജേശ്വരി തന്റെ ബാല്യം പിന്നിട്ടു.

വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം

          1971 ൽ അളഗപ്പ എൽ പി. സ്കൂളിൽ രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ ഔപചാരിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനു തുടക്കം കുറിച്ചു. ഈ വിദ്യാലയത്തിൽ ഒന്നു മുതൽ നാലാം ക്ലാസ്സുവരെയുള്ള പഠനം പൂർത്തിയാക്കി രജേശ്വരി തുടർ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനായി അളഗപ്പനഗറിലുള്ള ത്യാഗരാജർ ഹൈസ്കൂളിൽ പ്രവേശനം നേടി. (ഇന്ന് ഈ വിദ്യാലയം അളഗപ്പനഗർ പഞ്ചായത്ത് ഗവ. ഹയർ സെക്കന്ററി സ്കൂൾ എന്നാണറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്.) ഇവിടെ നിന്നും 1984 ൽ എസ്. എസ്. എൽ. സി. പരീക്ഷ വിജയിച്ച രജേശ്വരിയുടെ പ്രീഡിഗ്രി പഠനം പാരലൽ കോളേജായ ‘വിമല കോളേജിൽ’ ആയിരുന്നു. മിസ്. ടി. പുളിക്കൻ എന്ന വനിത ആരംഭിച്ച് പിന്നീട് ശ്രീ മുകുന്ദൻഎറ്റെടുത്ത് നടത്തിയിരുന്ന ഒരു സ്ഥാപനമായിരുന്നു ‘വിമല കോളേജ്’. പത്താം ക്ലാസ്സ് കഴിഞ്ഞ് കോളേജ് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിന്റെ പടിവാതിലായ പി. ഡി. സി. (പ്രീ ഡിഗ്രി കോഴ്സ്) ക്ക് ചേരാൻ ധാരാളം കുട്ടികൾ മുന്നോട്ടു വരുന്ന കാലമായിരുന്നു അത്. എന്നാൽ അത്രയും കുട്ടികളെ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളാൻ ആവശ്യമായ കോളേജ് സൗകര്യങ്ങൾ അന്നില്ലായിരുന്നു. ഇത് സമാന്തര വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങൾക്ക് ‘ചാകര’ ഒരുക്കി. പല നല്ല സമാന്തര സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളും അന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്ന വസ്തുത പറയാതെ വയ്യ. 1984ൽ പി. ഡി. സി. പൂർത്തിയാക്കി രാജേശ്വരി തൃശ്ശൂർ ശ്രീ കേരളവർമ്മ കോളേജിൽ ബിരുദ പഠനത്തിനായി ചേർന്നു.മലയാളം ആയിരുന്നു ഐച്ഛിക വിഷയം. കേരളവർമ്മയിൽ തന്നെ തുടർന്നു പഠിച്ച് മലയാളത്തിൽ രാജേശ്വരി തന്റെ എം. എ. ബിരുദം 1991 ൽ നേടി. കേരളവർമ്മയിലെ പഠനകാലഘട്ടമാണ്‌ രാജേശ്വരിയിലെ പൊതു പ്രവർത്തകയെയും രാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രവർത്തകയെയും ഉണർത്തിയത്. അക്കാര്യങ്ങൾ മറ്റൊരു സന്ദർഭത്തിൽ നമുക്ക പരിശോധിക്കാം.

ഗുരുശ്രേഷ്ടന്മാർ 

          പ്രൈമറി വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലെ ഗുരുക്കന്മാരായ യോഹന്നാൻ മാസ്റ്റർ, അപ്പുകുട്ടൻ മാസ്റ്റർ, (അയൽവാസി കൂടിയായ) ഇട്ടി മാസ്റ്റർ എന്നിവരെ ഭയഭക്തി ബഹുമാനത്തോടെയാണ്‌ രാജേശ്വരി ഇന്നും സ്മരിക്കുന്നത്. അവരുടെ കാര്യങ്ങൾ പറയുമ്പോൾ രജേശ്വരി ഒമ്പതു വയസ്സുകാരി ബാലികയായി മാറുന്ന അത്ഭുത കാഴ്ച നമുക്ക് ദൃശ്യമാകും 

          ശ്രീമതി അച്ചാമ ടീച്ചർ ആയിരുന്നു ഹൈസ്കൂളിലെ പ്രധാന അദ്ധ്യാപിക. അവർ രജേശ്വരിയുടെ അയല്പക്കത്താണ്‌ ഇന്നും താമസിക്കുന്നത്. കൊച്ചുഗോവിന്ദൻ മാസ്റ്റർ, ദിവാകരൻ മാസ്റ്റർ, പരമേശ്വരൻ മാസ്റ്റർ, രുഗ്മിണി ടീച്ചർ, രാജു ടീച്ചർ തുടങ്ങിയ ഗുരുക്കന്മാർ രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ ഹൈസ്കൂൾ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട ഗുരുക്കന്മാരാണ്‌.  

          കോളേജിൽ മലയാളം ഐച്ഛിക വിഷയമായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത് ബി. എ. ബിരുദവും എം. എ. ബിരുദവും നേടിയത് തൃശ്ശൂർ ശ്രീ കേരളവർമ കോളേജിൽ നിന്നാണ്‌ എന്ന് മുൻ ഖണ്ഡികയിൽ സൂചിപ്പിച്ചുവല്ലൊ.. അവിടത്തെ അദ്ധ്യാപകരായ ഷൊർണ്ണുർ കാർത്തികേയൻ, കല്പറ്റ ബാലകൃഷ്ണൻ, പി. നാരായണമേനോൻ, വിജി തമ്പി എന്നിവരുടെ ക്ളാസ്സുകൾ ഇന്നും മങ്ങാതെ, മായാതെ രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ മനസ്സിലുണ്ട്.

കൂട്ടുകാർ

          വിദ്യാലയ ജീവിതത്തിലെ കൂട്ടുകാരായ ശ്രീദേവി, ശേഖരൻ, ഗീത, ഉഷ, വസന്തലക്ഷ്മി, എന്നിവർ ഇന്നും രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ മനസ്സിൽ ഇടം കാണുന്നു. കോളേജ് യൂണിയൻ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന കൂട്ടുകാരിൽ പലരും ഇന്ന് സജീവ രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിൽ തിളങ്ങി നില്ക്കുന്നു. തന്റെ ഈ കൂട്ടുകാർ കുടുംബ ജീവിതത്തിലും  പൊതു ജീവിതത്തിലും തനതായ വ്യക്തിത്വത്തിന്റെ ഉടമകളാണെന്ന കാര്യം രാജ്ജേശ്വരി വ്യക്തമാക്കിയത് കൂട്ടുകാരോട്  രാജ്ജേശ്വരിക്കുള്ള നല്ല മനോഭാവത്തെയാണ്‌ പ്രകടമാക്കിയത്.

വിവാഹവും കുടുംബവും 

          1989 ജൂലായ് 09 നായിരുന്നു രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ വിവാഹം. ആമ്പല്ലൂർ പള്ളിപ്പുറത്ത് രാജൻ മേനോൻ ആയിരുന്നു വരൻ. ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണപുരം ക്ഷേത്രസന്നിധിയിൽ വച്ച് അന്നത്തെ ശുഭ മുഹൂർത്തത്തിൽ രാജൻ മേനോൻ രാജേശ്വരിയെ താലികെട്ടി, പുടവ കൊടുത്ത് തന്റെ വാമഭാഗമാക്കി. രാജൻ - രാജേശ്വരികളുടെ ദാമ്പത്യ വല്ലരിയിൽ രണ്ടു കുസുമങ്ങൾ വിരിഞ്ഞു; അവരാണ്‌ ഗോവിന്ദും ഇന്ദുലേഖയും. ലളിതമായ കുടുംബജീവിതം നയിച്ചു രാജേശ്വരിയും രാജനും.

          2009 ൽ മഞ്ഞപ്പിത്ത ബാധയെ തുടർന്ന് ശ്രീ രാജനെ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു. എങ്കിലും കാലപാശവുമായി എത്തിയ മഞ്ഞപ്പിത്തത്തെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാൻ ഡോക്ടർമാർക്ക് സാധിച്ചില്ല. 2009 ജനുവരി 30 - അതെ ഗാന്ധിജിയുടെ രക്തസാക്ഷി ദിനത്തിൽ തന്നെ ശ്രീ രാജൻ തന്റെ പ്രിയ പത്നിയെയും അരുമ മക്കളെയും കൈവിട്ട് കാലയവനികക്കുള്ളിൽ അന്തർധാനം ചെയ്തു. രാജേശ്വരിക്കും മക്കൾക്കും എന്തു ചെയ്യണം എന്നറിയാത്ത ഒരവസ്ഥയായിരുന്നു നേരിടേണ്ടി വന്നത്. പക്ഷെ അധികം വൈകാതെ രാജേശ്വരി തന്റെ മനോധൈര്യം വീണ്ടെടുത്ത് തന്റെ മക്കളെയും കുടുംബത്തെയും സംരക്ഷിച്ചു. വീടിനോടു ചേർന്നു നടത്തിയിരുന്ന പലചരക്കു കട ഇക്കാലത്ത് രാജേശ്വരിയെ വളരെ സഹായിച്ചു. 

ഇ. എസ്. ഐ. കോർപ്പറേഷനിലായിരുന്നു ശ്രീ രാജനു ജോലി. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മരണത്തെ തുടർന്ന് മകൻ ഗോവിന്ദിന്‌ ഇ. എസ്. ഐ. കോർപ്പറേഷനിൽ അച്ഛന്റെ ജോലി ലഭിച്ചത് കുടുംബത്തിന്‌ നല്ലൊരു പിന്തുണയായി. മകൾ ഇന്ദുലേഖ ബി. ടെക്. വിദ്യാർത്ഥിനിയാണ്‌.

രാഷ്ട്രീയവും പൊതു ജീവിതവും 

          1985 - 1991 കളിൽ കേരള വർമ്മ കോളേജിലെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിനിയായിരുന്ന കാലഘട്ടത്തിലാണ്‌ രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രവേശം. കോളേജിൽ രാജേശ്വരി കെ. എസ്. യു. വിൽ സജീവ അംഗമായി ചേർന്നു പ്രവർത്തിക്കുവാൻ തുടങ്ങിയത് അക്കാലത്താണ്‌. കോളേജ് യൂണിയൻ തിരഞ്ഞേടുപ്പകളിൽ രാജേശ്വരി മത്സരിക്കുവാൻ നിർബന്ധിതായായി. പക്ഷെ ഭൂരിഭാഗം തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുകളിലും തനിക്ക് പരാജയമാണ്‌ നേരിടേണ്ടി വന്നതെന്ന് അവർ യാതൊരു മടിയും കൂടാതെ തുറന്നു സമ്മതിക്കുന്നു. രാജേശ്വരിയുടെ തുറന്ന മനഃസ്ഥിതിയെയും സത്യസന്ധതെയെയുമാണ്‌ ഇതു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത്. അക്രമരാഷ്ട്രീയം വഴി സ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ കൈക്കലാക്കുവാൻ അവർ തയ്യാറായിരുന്നില്ല. സ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ തനിക്ക് അർഹമാകുന്ന സന്ദർഭത്തിൽ തന്നെ തേടി എത്തിക്കൊള്ളും എന്നവർക്ക് ഉറപ്പുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.  കേരള വർമ്മയിൽ ലഭിച്ച രാഷ്ട്രീയ പരിശീലനം തനിക്ക് ലഭിച്ച വലിയൊരു സമ്പത്തായി രാജേശ്വരി തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നു.

  

          പഠനശേഷം നാട്ടിലെത്തിയ രാജേശ്വരി, ഭർത്താവായ രാജന്റെ സമ്മതത്തോടെ, രാഷ്ട്രീയ ജീവിതം തുടരുവാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. 2000, 2005, 2010 വർഷങ്ങളിൽ തദ്ദേശ സ്വയംഭരണ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലേക്ക് നടത്തപ്പെട്ട തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുകളിൽ അളഗപ്പനഗർ ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്തിൽ രാജേശ്വരി മത്സരിക്കുകയും മൂന്നു തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുകളിലും വൻ ഭൂരിപക്ഷത്തോടെ വിജയം കൈവരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. 2012 മുതൽ ശ്രീമതി കെ. രാജേശ്വരിയാണ്‌ അളഗപ്പനഗർ ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്തിന്റെ പ്രസിഡന്റ്. മികച്ച ഭരണപാടവം പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന രാജേശ്വരി വളരെയധികം നയതന്ത്രജ്ഞയുമാണ്‌. മിതഭാഷിയാണെങ്കിലും പറയുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങൾ വ്യക്തവും കാര്യമാത്ര പ്രസക്തവുമായിരിക്കും. “അധികപ്രസംഗം അല്ല, പ്രവൃത്തിയാണ്‌ അഭികാമ്യം” എന്ന് ഉറച്ചു വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന പ്രസിഡന്റ് മറ്റു പഞ്ചായത്ത് അംഗങ്ങൾക്കും ജനങ്ങൾക്കും എന്നും പ്രിയങ്കരിയായതിൽ അത്ഭുതമില്ലല്ലൊ.

പാർട്ടി പദവികൾ 

          ഇന്ത്യൻ നാഷണൽ കോൺഗ്രസ്സിന്റെ സജീവ പ്രവർത്തകയാണ്‌ ശ്രീമതി രാജേശ്വരി. സ്ഥാനമാനങ്ങൾക്കായി പിടിവലി കൂടാൻ പോകാത്തതിനാൽ അർഹതയുണ്ടെങ്കിലും മിക്കപ്പോഴും സ്ഥാനങ്ങളും പദവികളും ലഭിക്കാറില്ല. അവർക്ക് അതിലൊട്ടും പരിഭവവും ഇല്ല. ഇന്ത്യൻ നാഷണൽ കോൺഗ്രസ്സിന്റെ കൊടകര ബ്ലോക്ക് സെക്രട്ടറിയായി സേവനം അനുഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ജനപ്രതിനിധി എന്ന നിലയിൽ 

          2000, 2005, 2010 വർഷങ്ങളിൽ പാർട്ടി ടിക്കറ്റിൽ അളഗപ്പനഗർ പഞ്ചായത്ത് തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥിയാവുകയും മൂന്നു തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുകളിലും വിജയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. 2010 മുതൽ 2012 വരെ അളഗപ്പനഗർ ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്ത് ആരോഗ്യ- വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്റ്റാന്റിങ്ങ് കമ്മിറ്റി ചെയർ പേഴ്സൺ ആയി സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ച്ട്ടുണ്ട്. 2012 ൽ പ്രസിഡന്റ് ആകുന്നതു വരെ തൽസ്ഥാനത്തു തുടർന്ന അവർ ആ മേഖലയിൽ കാര്യമായ സംഭാവനകൾ നല്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ഈശ്വരവിശ്വാസം,  ഭക്തി, ഇഷ്ടദേവൻ 

          ഈശ്വരവിശ്വാസമുള്ള വ്യക്തിയാണ്‌ ശ്രീമതി രാജേശ്വരി. ഈ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിൽ സർവ്വ ചരാചരങ്ങളെയും പ്രവർത്തന സജ്ജമാക്കുന്ന, നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പ്രകൃതി ശക്തിയുണ്ട്. ആ ശക്തിയിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു, രാജ്ജേശ്വരി. അതിനെ ഈശ്വരൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കാൻ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നു. ഭക്തിയുണ്ടെങ്കിലും പ്രകടനാത്മക ഭക്തിയിൽ വിശ്വാസമില്ല. ഇഷ്ട ദേവൻ ഗണപതിയാണ്‌.

ഒരു പൊതു പ്രവർത്തക(ൻ) എങ്ങനെയുള്ള വ്യക്തി ആയിരിക്കണമെന്ന് രാജേശ്വരിക്ക് തന്റേതായ ധാരണകൾ ഉണ്ട്. പൊതു പ്രവർത്തക(ൻ) തന്റെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിൽ മാന്യതയുള്ളവനും നിസ്വാർത്ഥിയും ആയിരിക്കണം. സേവനം നല്കുകയാണ്‌ വേണ്ടത്, ജനങ്ങളെ തന്റെ വ്യക്തി താല്പര്യങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉപയോഗിക്കുകയല്ല ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്. ഇത്തരുണത്തിൽ രാജേശ്വരി നല്കുന്ന സന്ദേശത്തെ പൊതുപ്രവർത്തകർക്കുള്ള രാജേശ്വരീ മന്ത്രം ആയി നമുക്ക് കരുതം, അതിതാണ്‌ -

A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF K. RAJESWARI

AMBALLUR AND ALAGAPPANAGAR

Thrissur is popularly known as the cultural capital of Kerala State. Amballur is a small village in Mukundapuram taluk of this district. In olden days one could see thousands and thousands of ‘ampal’ (lotus) flowers in the wet lands on both sides the National High Way 47 passing through this village. The visitors used to call this place as ‘ampal uur ‘(‘uur’ means village. Thus ‘ampal uur’ means village of ampal flowers).  This name ‘ampal uur’ during the course of time became “Amballur”. In 1937 Alakappa Chettiyar, a great industrialist, started a cotton yarn factory, Cochin Textiles, in amballur. Later Cochin Textiles was renamed as Alakappa textiles (Cochin) Mills Limited. For the management, staff and labourers of this factory Chettiyar constructed a township around this factory. So this place became ‘Alakappanagar’ which later changed to ‘Aagappanagar’.  Up to 1952 Alagappanagar was under the local governing body Varandarappilly panchayath. The local governing body, Alagappanagar Panchayath started functioning from 1953 onwards. Now Alagappanagar is a ‘Class A’ gramapanchayath in Mukundapuram taluk of Thrissur district.   Presently Smt. K. Rajeswari is elected President of this gramapanchayath since 2012.

K. RAJESWARI is a multi - faceted personality. She served the locality as a pre-primary teacher, parallel college teacher, charity worker, politician, grocer, member of panchayath, garama panchayath president, etc. It will be a great pleasure to know her life experiences and her way of service.

EARLY LIFE OF RAJESWARI

Rajeswari was born, as the fourth among the five children of Kuruveetil Krishnan Nair and Parambath veetil Leela Amma, on 25^th may, 1966. The other siblings are Sivasankaran, Seetha, Sreeranjini, Vijayalakshmi and Gopalakrishnan. Rajeswari spent her childhood in her father’s home. She and her siblings along with their friends find many ways to  enjoy their childhood days very happily.

EDUCATION OF RAJESWARI

When Rajeswari was at five her father enrolled her in Alagappa Lower Primary School, Alagappanagar. This school was established by Alagappa Chettiyar for the education of the children of the employees and labourers of his mill. She competed four years of lower primary education there. Then she was shifted to Thiagarajar High School, Alagappanagar (abbreviated as T. H. S. Alagappanagar). She passed her S. S. L. C. Examination in the year 1984.

In those days facilities for college education is very few. There were only four or five colleges in Thrissur district. These institutions could not accommodate all the students seeking college education. So there were a god number of Parallel Colleges functioning. They mainly offered two years Pre-Degree Course (PDC Course). In those days there were neither higher secondary schools nor plus two courses. Rajeswari got admission for PDC in a parallel college Viz, ‘Vimala College. This college was established by an honorable lady called Miss. T. after a few years it so happened that she could not manage the smooth functioning of the college. So she handed over the college to one Mr. Mukundan.  Rajeswari, after completing the pre-degree course, joined the famous college namely Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur. She took Malayalam literature as her optional subject for B. A. Course. She took her post- graduation in the same subject, from the same college.  

TEACHERS

Rajeswari has high memory power. She still remembers her primary class teachers and their classes. This also shows her devotion, reverence and love to her teachers. Sree Yohannan master, Sree appukuttan master and Sree Itty master are among them. When Rajeswari begins to talk about her primary teachers, she will become a nine-year old girl. During her high school education at T. H. S. Alagappanagar, Mrs. Achama teacher was the Headmistress. She was Rajeswari’s neighbor also. Shornnur Karthikeyan, Kalpata Balakrishnan, P. Narayanan Menon and V. G. Thampi are Rajeswari’s college teachers. They are her most respectable and ever loving teachers.

  

            

FRIENDS  

Sreedevi, Sekharan, Geetha, Usha and Vasantha lakshmi are some of the dearest friends of Rajeswari’s educational life. They still find some space in her mind.

RAJESWARI AND STUDENT POLITICS IN S. K. V. COLLEGE

Sree Kerala Varma College is popularly known as the training centre of future politicians or the leaders. It may also be noted that those days were the time of aggressive student politics in colleges. Student clashes are quite often in those days. Rajeswari prepared her mind to enter into student politics and she joined Kerala Students Union (K. S. U.). She contested in college union elections. She admits that she could not win a single election during her entire study period in Sree Kerala Varma College. This statement shows the purity of her mind and the truthfulness of her character. Even if she lied and said she had won those elections, we will believe her. She was not ready to do that. The training she undergone in the college politics there paved the way to original politics of the country. After college studies, she took membership in Indian National Congress to continue her political service. The classes of Kochugovindan master, Parameswaran master, Rugmini teacher, Sankaran Master, Divakaran Master, Raju Teacher, etc are still in her memory.

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY LIFE

Rajeswari was married to Mr. Rajan Menon. As per tradition the marriage was arranged by the family. Mr. Rajan Menon belonged to the famous Pallippurath tharavaatu (Amballur). Mr. Rajan was a clerk in ESIC (Employees’’ State Insurance Corporation - a central government institution). The Marriage was on 09^th July, 1989 and conducted in Sreekrishnapuram Temple, Amballur.  They have two children - a son and a daughter. The elder one is Govind and the younger one is Indulekha. They, the parents and the children, led a simple life. 

In the beginning of year 2009, Mr. Rajan Menon was attacked by a special type of Jaundice.  At first he ignored the symptoms of the disease. Later he was admitted to the hospital. But it was of no use. The doctors could not control the disease. On 30^th January, 2009 Mr. Rajan Menon passed away, leaving his wife Rajeswari, son Govind and daughter Indulekha here in the deep ocean of sorrow.

As Mr. Rajan Menon died - in - harness, his son Govind got a government job in ESIC itself. It helped the family to a great extent.

Miss Indulekha is a B. Tech. student. Smt. Rajeswari has been running a grocery shop for about twenty years to give the family an additional fiscal support.

PROFESSION OR CARREAR

Rajeswari started her professional life as a Pre - Primary (Nursery or Anganavaadi) teacher. After one or two years she joined a parallel college and taught Malayalam for Pre-Degree, degree and Post-Graduation students.  She left this profession to look after her children better.

Then she started a grocery shop adjoined to her home. The natives of this locality are fortunate to get pure and unaltered grocery items at a much lower price. She had been running this shop for twenty years. Due to some personal health problems, she was compelled to stop functioning of this shop recently.

All this time she continued service as a politician. She served her political party (INC) in many faces, i.e., as an ordinary member, leader, block secretary, party - candidate for many elections, etc. Now she is serving as the President of Alagappanagar Grama-Panchayath.

POLITICS AND PUBLIC LIFE

When Rajeswari was a B. A. student in Sree Kerala Varma College she was attracted by the student politics. She actively participated in the activities of Kerala Students Union in S. K. V. College Thrissur. This happened during the years 1985 to 1981. As a member of K.S.U., she was compelled to contest in college union elections. Although she failed almost all her attempts, she revealed, those elections gave her rich and varied experiences. That was her wealth, says Rajeswari now. The political experience she obtained there built the foundations of her future political life.

After completing her studies, she discussed the matter with Mr. Rajan Menon, her husband. Knowing her interest in politics, Rajan Menon gave her his consent to continue her political life in a wider span. She joined Indian National Congress and presented a true, real and transparent political life. This gave Rajeswari much influence among the public.

OFFICIAL POSTS IN THE PARTY

Mrs. K.  Rajeswari is an active worker of Indian National Congress. She is not in the habit of quarrelling for selfish motives. Due to this habit she lost many eligible posts in the party. She served the party as the Secretary of Kodakara Block Committee till the year 2010.

Considering her dedicated service party gave her tickets to contest in the elections to local Self governments. She contested thrice, in 2000, 2005 and 2010. She bagged meritorious victory in all these elections.

RAJESWARI AS A PACHAYATH MEMBER

With the unanimous support of the party, Indian National Congress, Rajeswari contested three times to the general elections to the local bodies as a U. D. F. (United Democratic Front). She won the three elections i.e,  in 2000, 2005 and 2010. She represented Ward no. 1 in Alagappanagar Grama- Panchayath. She served as the Chairperson of the health and education standing Committee in Alagappanagar Grama-Panchayath till 2012. From 2012 serves the President of this Grama-Panchayath.

Rajeswari’s magic hand touched each and every corner of the Panchayath making them prosperous and developed. She sought the help of all members of the panchayath, irrespective of political party considerations, to stand with her in these development activities. Although she succeeded in her attempts, she is not at all satisfied.  She is still working for a better Alagappanagar. She and her colleagues are now trying to extend their welfare activities to the needy and the eligible ones.
